About a year ago I decided that I would try my had at vlogging (video vlogging). Needless to say, it didn't even lift off a little bit. Am I disappointed? Slightly. I was thinking about why it failed and I came up with 4 good reasons why vlogging wasn't for me.
Personality
I typically like my personality. I just think that it takes a certian
kind of person to be behind a camera and address an audience that one
can not see. Apparently I do not hold that type of confidence.
Self Confidence
I know that this could also be considered under the personality reason
but I think that this is a tad different.
I lack Self Confidence.
A lot.
I think you need to be okay with who you are to be in front of a camera.
I am in SO many ways, not okay with who I am and how I look so
when I made a video I think that it shined through and I just couldn't bring myself to post it.
Know How
Maybe this is an obvious one but I think I need to put it here anyway.
I think that anyone can record a simple video and post it to you tube or any media website.
This does not make the video good or worth watching.
In my opinion you can have the greatest story EVER &
if you just sit there and talk to the camera with no jump cuts or emotion,
I will probably turn your video off.
I had no idea how to do this editing.
Everywhere I looked I found that you needed a program that I couldn't afford or didn't have the patience to figure out.
Content
My life is pretty simple.
I am a stay at home mom who cares about her family.
This is not much to put into a video.
I suppose I could have put my crafts, recipes & cleaning tips into videos
but these are not even things the people I know would care about.
Ultimately I decided that my thoughts, opinions and ideas would be better served in blog form and I couldn't be happier!
I do love watching people who do vlog however.
In the very near future I will be posting my top 5 favorite vloggers.
